Top 10 tips for weight loss

My top 10 tips for weight loss and in order of priority;

  1. Set a realistic and measurable goal: Ensure you have something to aim for and know where your going i.e. Lose 4 kilos in 4 weeks.

  2. Know or workout your maintenance Calories: No one really talks about this, but in my opinion this is your starting point and this will underpin your progress. Maintenance calories are absolutely crucial and a non negotiable if you want to start making progress right away.

  3. Operate in a minor calorie deficit: Anything too drastic and you could really hinder your progress.

  4. Prioritise Nutrition: Nutrition is responsible for 80% of your results. Your nutrition should balanced in terms of Protein, Carbs and Fats. Reduce and eradicate ultra processed foods.

  5. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day because water aids many of your bodily functions like digestion.

  6. Follow a strength training programme: Muscles burn calories, the bigger the muscles the more calories we burn at rest, strength training will also sculpt beautiful strong shape.

  7. Incorporate Physical Activity: Apart from your training sessions make sure your still hitting a decent amount of physical activity each day.

  8. Get Adequate Sleep: Adequate sleep helps regulate hormones that control appetite and metabolism. Lack of sleep can disrupt these hormones, leading to increased hunger, cravings for high-calorie foods, and reduced feelings of fullness, which can all contribute to overeating and thus weight gain.

  9. Manage Stress: Often stress can directly affect our appetite. Stress can lead to over eating but it can also affect your motivation and energy which we often need to train or keep our physical activity levels high.

  10. Stay Consistent: You’ve probably heard this so many times but it’s true, your progress aside from the above will be dictated by your levels of consistency. Be consistent with the above tips and you will make progress.
